Renewable energy, including wind, solar, hydro, and biomass, is crucial for cutting emissions and advancing the global energy transition to meet climate goals. However, due to shared power grids, purchasing renewable energy certificates becomes necessary to ensure the origin and claim the use of renewable power.

International Renewable Energy Certificate (IRECs) are certificates that represent the environmental attributes of renewable energy generation, such as solar, wind, or hydroelectric power. They provide proof that a certain amount of energy has been generated from renewable sources and can be traded separately from the electricity.

Guarantees of Origin (GOs) are certificates used in the European energy market to verify the origin and environmental attributes of renewable electricity. They represent a specific quantity of renewable energy generated and enable consumers and businesses to support and track the use of renewable energy in the grid.
